Nuclear-Free Middle East

NewPolicy.org supports President Obama’s vision for a nuclear-free world, starting with a nuclear-free Middle East. NewPolicy.org is opposed to the proliferation of nuclear weapons in the Middle East, including in Iran and Israel. Nuclear weapons in the Middle East only serve to destabilize the region.

However, NewPolicy.org is equally opposed to further sanctions on Iran, as sanctions only serve to strengthen the government and weaken the Iranian civil society. NewPolicy.org is strongly opposed to any military action against Iran by the United States or Israel, as it would lead to a region-wide conflagration and endanger American troops in both Afghanistan and Iraq.

While NewPolicy.org understands the delicacy of the situation, it recognizes that only negotiations based on compromise by all nations in the Middle East to rid the region of nuclear weapons would bring peace and security to all.
